
From 07 to 10 April 2025, the Integrated Air & Missile Defence Centre of Excellence (IAMD COE) successfully conducted the first iteration of the Surface-Based Air & Missile Defence Common Education and Training Program (SBAMD CET-P) for 2025.
This four-day program covers essential topics, including NATO IAMD policy, threats to SBAMD forces, NATO command and control (C2) structures, the Air C2 and ATO cycle, data link integration, SBAMD planning principles , reporting procedures and emerging threats like hypersonic weapons. The course is designed to educate and train tactical-level SBAMD operators and national SBAMD instructors in NATO Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) for SBAMD operations. It also promotes a shared understanding and enhances interoperability among NATO SBAMD forces ensuring member nations are prepared to address evolving threats with unified approaches and effective coordination.
The first iteration of the 2025 SBAMD CET-P was delivered by subject matter experts from CAOC UEDEM, Czech Airforce Command, JAPCC, CC SBAMD, Technical University of Crete (TUC), and IAMD COE. It was attended by 23 participants representing 16 NATO member nations.
The IAMD COE conducts the SBAMD CET-P twice annually. The next iteration is scheduled for November 17–20, 2025.
