On Friday 21st of February 2025, Brigadier General (OF-6) Zacharias KOUTRAKIS GRC (AF) took over the command of Integrated Air & Missile Defence Centre of Excellence from Major General (OF-7) Nikolaos MAKRYGIANNIS GRC (AF) during a Change of Command Ceremony held at the Centre’s premises at Souda Air Base, Chania, Greece.
Vice Admiral (OF-8) Theodoros MIKROPOULOS GRC (N), Deputy Chief of Hellenic National Defence General Staff, presided over the ceremony.
The political, regional, and religious authorities of Chania, along with senior military Officers from Units and Centres in the Chania area, distinguished guests, and the Centre’s international-national staff, attended the ceremony.
Before handling over command, Major General (OF-7) Nikolaos MAKRYGIANNIS GRC (AF) delivered his final remarks as the Integrated Air & Missile Defence Centre of Excellence Director and thanked those in attendance, Framework Nation Greece and all other Sponsoring Nations, his family, and the IAMD COE personnel
